MBM‘s sales of its “off-the-shelf” I-joists have grown as builders tackle new Building Regulations.

MBM offers the LP 225i through a network of suppliers.

“There has been some delay as pre-October 2010 permits have taken time to filter through the system,” said MBM’s Stephen Sabine. “But as builders apply for new permits today they now have to think about how they will meet the new Part L requirements.

“This has now forced them to consider how they will accommodate the mechanical ventilation systems required to maintain fresh air and consequently where the ducting will be run.

Mr Sabine said MBM’s 30 or so stockists were now well placed to provide a solution.

The MBM/Louisiana-Pacific partnership represents a targeting of the small builder market, which is largely unused to dealing with I-joists.

LP I-joists were recently supplied to a multi-unit masonry builder for the first time in Ealing.
