Malaysian-based Mastimber Industries Sdn Bhd aims to increase monthly output of its flooring products from RM1m to RM1.2m by early next year.

It also plans an aggressive marketing campaign in Europe for its speciality product – two-layered solid wood parquet made from Malaysian wood such as hevea, kempas and merbau.

General manager BS Tan said that as the raw materials are available locally it can produce a new range of two-layered solid wood flooring parquet cost effectively, enabling it to competitively price the product for the European market.

He said Mastimber already has a strong customer base in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Italy which it believes it can develop.

One reason for the products popularity is the environmentally friendly technology used in Mastimber’s production process.

Mr Tan added: “Another selling point is that we employ a special technique to minimise the usage of timber in the production of high-quality parquet.”
