Draft approval has been given to build a £600m biomass plant in Wales.

The approval by Environment Agency Wales follows a year-long examination of the plans to build a wood-fired plant on the site of a former aluminium factory on Anglesey.

Wood fuel is envisaged to come from certified forest plantations overseas, shipped in to Holyhead.

The agency will hold further consultation before releasing its formal decision in March.

Approval is still needed from the government.
