A Swedish football club has chosen Martinsons to build an engineered timber roof for its new stand.

The company will deliver and assemble the new grandstand roof for Atvidabergs FF’s Copper Vallen stadium.

The football club turned to timber construction specialist Martinsons after it saw the grandstand it built in Umea for 3,800 spectators.

The new building will hold 6,000 spectators, including 4,200 seats under cover and will be the first stand in Sweden to be fully FSC certified.

Once the work is completed, the stadium will comply with the Swedish Football Association stadium requirements, which will be introduced in 2014.

Martinsons believes further opportunities exist to offer football stadiums solutions in timber.

“The solution Atvidabergs found we believe may be of interest to many, not least because stadium projects are often undertaken in collaboration with companies and municipalities,” said Daniel Wiklund, Martinsons sales engineer.

“An important aspect is the environmental impact and carbon emissions.”
