Window repair and replacement firm Martindales Ltd has begun using a text message alert system to improve communications with its customers.

Described as an “industry first for customer care” by Martindales, the system was developed by its IT team to alert customers to upcoming surveyor or repair appointments.

Managing director Phil Martindale said that the system “is already saving time and money” and has already “proven its worth” with one customer who had forgotten an appointment.

“Within days of launch the system reminded one customer of a repair appointment – which he had forgottten,” said Mr Martindale.

“Such is technology these days that something as commonplace as a text message should ideally go unnoticed other than to do the basic job of reminding a customer of an appointment – but that’s the whole point.”
