Marlows Timber Engineering Ltd has completed the £400,000 planned extension of its factory area to extend its timber floor cassette production.

Capacity at the Bury St Edmunds site has now been increased to 1,200 units a year.

General manager Roger Smith said: “We are experiencing strong demand for our floor cassettes which reduce on site construction time and deliver a high quality product constructed in factory conditions.

“Our technique of pre-assembly of complete floors prior to separation for transport requires a lot of space, but it gives the very best assurance of fit on site.”

The extended facility includes an overhead crane to handle the large components. From the range of specifications available, the most common is engineered I beams with a waterproof chipboard decking.
