Magnet Ltd has become the largest window manufacturer supplying both the public and trade to achieve Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) chain of custody certification.

Following a successful audit by the Soil Association, the Keighley-based joinery manufacturer received certification for its full range of softwood windows.

Magnet was helped by SCA Timber Supply to organise its systems and documentation in line with the FSC’s chain of custody requirements.

The company said it had operated a strict sustainable sourcing policy for many years but could now make public the environmental credentials of its redwood timber.

Magnet Joinery director Gary North said: “Customers can now be sure that Magnet windows are helping to limit the impact on the earth’s resources whilst still providing the quality associated with our brand.”

Magnet said the certification process had been a long-term effort taking two years. It is also working on chain of custody arrangements with a view to achieving certification for its hardwood windows.
