Mactaggart & Mickel Timber Systems has reported strong financial growth in recent months including more than £1.5m of new business contracts.

The Coatbridge-based company, part of the Scottish family-owned housebuilding Mactaggart & Mickel Group, has won competitive tenders to develop two hotels on behalf of Whitbread Premier Inn, as well as a housing contract on behalf of a national housebuilder on a site in Blairgowrie, and a large extension in Strathblane for Bell Building Projects.

The hotel projects are an extension of an existing hotel in Glenrothes and a new hotel and Beefeater restaurant at Newton Mearns.

The business also continues to produce closed-panel timber frames and bathroom pods for Mactaggart & Mickel Homes across its central Scotland locations.

The company opened a second factory on Palacecraig Street in Coatbridge early this year, doubling capacity in response to growth.

Situated close to the original premises on Calder Street, the new site is producing floor cassettes, cassette roofs and bathroom pods for the Glasgow 2014 Athletes’ Village – where Mactaggart & Mickel is part of the City Legacy consortium building the village – and helping to meet demand from external contracts.
