The pavilion is the winning entry in the Architectural Association’s (AA) competition for students on its advanced geometry course and forms part of its summer Projects Review at its Bedford Square base.

Designed by students at the AA’s Hooke Park site, the pavilion has been built on the pavement and is open for passer’s by to just wander in. It will be in place until July 28.

It is inspired by the branches of a tree and is made entirely in identically shaped, but different sized ‘leaves’ of Kerto.

Finnforest marketing manager Warren Dudding said the company became involved in the project because of the “importance of developing an understanding of timber, its capabilities and advantages among architectural students”.
