Louisiana-Pacific is to move its headquarters from Portland to Nashville next year with the loss of some 175 jobs.

Company chief executive Mark Suwyn said the move to Nashville is “an excellent fit” for the company.

“It’s closer to our mills, customers and financial shareholders while offering an affordable, good quality life for our employees and a positive business climate,” he said.

The move will leave Portland, one of America’s most timber-dependent states, without the head office of a timber company. Last year it lost Willamette Industries when it was bought by Weyerhaeuser.
