For the first time in their history the World Logging Championships are to be held in the UK.
The event, which has been staged for more than 30 years, will take place at Lockerbie, Scotland on September 25-28 where international teams of loggers will compete in five disciplines – felling, bar-and-chain changing, combination cross cutting, precision cross cutting and de-limbing.
Co-ordinator Graeme Hodgson said: ‘This is a ‘first’ for Scotland – the championships have never been held anywhere in the UK before. It is a very prestigious event and we expect to attract over 30 international teams of loggers.’
The championships will form part of the International Forest Fest, to be held at Lockerbie at the same time.
