In expectation of improved demand, especially from Japan, Lingui Developments Bhd has bought Samling Plywood (Miri) Sdn Bhd to boost its timber resources.
The Malaysian group, which exports 90% of its plywood to Japan, believes log and plywood prices will remain strong especially as neighbouring countries are clamping down on illegal logging.
