Deutsche Messe said Halls 19 and 20, closest to the tram station, are the two oldest buildings dating from 1961 and could no longer be updated. The working, costing €40m, will be completed in time for Ligna 2015 and will provide about the same exhibition space, although able to accommodate different event formats.
Deutsche Messe said 2011 was the best financially for 10 years with earnings up 10% at €63m. During 2011 25,000 companies took part in 62 trade shows attracting 2.2 million visitors.
