The machinery needed to ensure production efficiencies will be the highlight at next year’s Ligna show, organisers have said.

Deutsche Messe said the main theme of the five-day show will be “Making more out of wood – Technology for resource efficiency”, majoring on the tools and equipment available to the wood-based industries to minimise waste and streamline production.

This, said Deutsche Messe, is of growing importance as the global credit crunch and pressure on raw materials makes it more important for companies to scrutinise how they use their timber.

This will be showcased through the latest forestry, sawmill, woodworking and veneer production equipment, as well as technology for applying finishes and surfaces.

Ligna 2009 is to take place from May 18-22 in Hannover, Germany.
