London timber merchant Lawsons has raised more than £50,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The family-owned company marked its 90th year of trading last year and celebrated the milestone by organising fund-raising events for the cancer charity.

The events, held at Lawsons’ branches in London, included a darts tournament, directors’ leg waxing, charity golf day and charity auctions.

“We are absolutely delighted with the final figure raised for Macmillan. We were really well supported by staff, customers and suppliers alike,” said managing director Joe Inzani.

“The final figure not only exceeded our expectations but was also the largest single corporation donation received by Macmillan in the region all year.”
