Latvijas Finieris, Latvia’s largest wood treatment company, saw a 20.3% hike in profit in 2001.

It rose to Lats6.5m (€11.2m) with net sales of L65.17m, up 13.1%.

This year Latvijas Finieris plans to invest L1.3m in developments which will improve the quality of veneer and plywood significantly. The investment will also secure growth in the output of adhesive-bonded products, enable the launch of new products and secure a significant decrease in wooden raw material consumption.

Latvijas Finieris produces 0.32% of the world’s plywood output and 3% of Europe’s.
