Latvian timber exports grew by 53% in the first seven months of 2010, according to news agency LETA.

The country exported LVL462.3m worth of timber (2009: LVL302.6m) according to agriculture ministry figures seen by LETA.

The UK, Sweden and Germany were the main export destinations during the first seven months of the year, with UK business up 12.7% to LVL59m and Germany up 11.5% to LVL53.1m. Swedish exports were the biggest of the three at LVL85.6m, an 18.5% increase.

In the month of July, Latvia exported LVL81.27m worth of timber.
