Ironically, the same photocall – to announce new cash for urban forestry projects – was cancelled just days before, due to outgoing forestry minister Rhona Brankin being promoted.

Ms Boyack’s planned announcement of more cash for urban forestry projects at Penicuik Estate, Aderbank, was called off when bad weather conditions resulted in a landslide which blocked part of a new pathway she was due to open.

The Forestry Commission said an announcement on urban forestry cash will still be made. Funding for new projects comes from Forestry Commision Scotland’s Woods In and Around Towns initiative.
