As part of a 15-strong team Mr Lamont walked 75 miles across Belgium and into Holland, carrying a 40lb pack.
The final destination was Arnhem where the group attended the commemorations to mark the 70th anniversary of Operation Market Garden and Mr Lamont laid a wreath at the grave of a friend’s father. “My sincere thanks go to everyone who generously donated,” said Mr Lamont.
“The walk was difficult, but the experience was out of this world. I feel very privileged to have been part of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity”.
