Kronospan is planning to ship a dismantled Canadian OSB plant to Russia, according to German timber news magazine Euwid.

The company bought the main production equipment of the Timmins OSB works in Ontario recently. It it was previously operated by Grant Forster Products, which has been undergoing insolvency proceedings since 2009. After failing to find a buyer for the Timmins plant as a going concern, it was sold initially to industrial dismantling specialist EDS Commissioning. Ultimately, the equipment was sold on to Kronospan.

The plant is expected to be dismantled completely by the end of the month. Kronospan will then transport the components to Russia. Further details of the company’s intentions for the equipment after that are not yet known.
