A major restructure of the sales function has taken place at Kronospan‘s Chirk site.

With the aim of developing long term partnerships with key customers, the company has created three new operating divisions – manufacturing, distribution and retail. Each will operate as a profit centre and report directly to deputy sales director David Hussey.

The changes follow the announcement that sales director Tony Meehan is to leave the company.

The manufacturing division, headed by Scott Brady, will look after customers who buy Kronospan products and use them in the production of everything from caravans to furniture.

Julian Shaw will head up the distribution division and take responsibility for relationships with distributors and buying groups across a range of vertical market sectors.

The retail division will be run by John Gomersall, responsible for servicing a broad spectrum of retail customers and flooring retailers.

The company said the move is the latest in a series of developments to align Kronospan’s sales operation more closely with customers and provide greater levels of synergy between customer needs, the manufacturing process and new product development.

The Chirk site has seen investments totalling more than £250m over the past five years and more are planned for 2004 to increase production capacity.

Mr Hussey said the restructure will enable Kronospan to develop products to meet customers’ needs exactly. He added: “The timing of this announcement could not be better as the Chirk site is currently achieving record levels of production.”
