BBC TV’s Changing Rooms designer Anna Ryder-Richardson has officially opened Kronospan‘s new Design Centre at Chirk, Wrexham.

The £50,000 centre, purpose built to meet customer demand, houses information on thousands of products, textures, designs and colours.

A paper and vinyl manufacturer library enables customers to research different foil finishes or veneers and a presentation section displays product samples in situ.

Other products including high pressure laminate, solid wood worktops, laminate flooring, OSB and compact laminate, are showcased.

Visitors can access the Kronomatchline service – at www.kronospan.co.uk – and a décor database via dedicated computer stations within the centre.

Sales director Tony Meehan said the company invests heavily in research and development and added: “We continually review our portfolio to ensure we remain at the forefront of product innovation, and that our products not only meet demand for quality matched with contemporary style, but that they dictate future trends.”

Kronospan works with suppliers, distributors and end users to develop colourways and finishes and has created thousands of new products over the past 32 years.

Mr Meehan said: “As a result we recognised the benefits of making our complete portfolio easily accessible to anyone either looking for inspiration in the latest ‘hot off the press’ innovations, a forum for developing new ideas, or for information relating to our products, both past and present.”

At the launch Anna Ryder-Richardson said: “Every day people become more aware of current design trends and are influenced by them. But end users are not just taking products off the shelf, they are increasingly experimenting and creating their own look by mixing and matching products.”
