Kronospan is to appeal against the refusal of planning permission which would enable it to enlarge its site at Chirk.

The company wants to expand a warehouse to store laminated wood flooring for the retail sector.

It applied to Wrexham Council for the extension, but local people said the extension would intrude on their privacy, devalue homes and ‘increase pollution, noise and traffic levels’.

Kronospan said it was ‘extremely disappointed’ at the council decision.

Deputy managing director Joe Martoccia said there would be no operational difficulties caused by the planning refusal and was confident permission would be granted eventually.
