Klenk Holz’s French sawmill has gone into receivership after sustaining heavy losses for years.

Klenk said it made the move to start insolvency proceedings with Klenk Holz France SAS in order to secure its main German sawmilling business.

The mill at Volgelsheim, on the France/Germany border, has a cutting capacity (logs) of 600,000m³, producing spruce and silver fir sawn and planed timber, as well as finger-jointed dimension lumbers and beams.

Klenk, which has been reducing production at its group mills to adjust with falling market demand, is one of the top European sawmilling groups with four sites across Germany.
