Pontefract-based Kinsley Timber Supplies, run by mother and son team Gillian and John Sherry, has seen turnover grow from £100,000 in 1992 to about £400,000-500,000 in 2006.
Plans include developing adjacent land to offer a wider range of hardware, building products and power tools.
The company’s roots go back to 1946, when John Kenworthy Leach founded JK Leach & Co. The name was changed to Kinsley in the 1970s.
“We get a lot of custom from people who won’t go to the big companies because they don’t get that personal service,” said managing director John Sherry.
Kinsley, which will celebrate its anniversary by running a prize draw for customers during August, invested in Weinig processing machinery and wood shaving baling equipment in 2005. Further investments will include a wood-burning plant to heat the sit
