Kingspan Off-Site’s structural insulated panel (SIPs) construction system, TEK, has been used as an example of modern methods of construction (MMC) at an affordable housing development in Norwich.

The Friends Road project, a development by housebuilder Lovell, is part of a city-wide regeneration of Norwich, which includes environmentally-friendly and affordable housing.

Lovell and Circle Anglia, a housing group operating in East Anglia, are carrying out a number of projects on brownfield sites that are designed to reclaim land for affordable housing.

“The Kingspan Off-Site TEK system was specified because of its strong environmental credentials; the employment of MMC, which we support; and the high levels of thermal efficiency,” said Simon Medler, regional director at Lovell.

“The design flexibility offered by the…system was also a factor in our choice.”

Mr Medler added that the TEK system had been specified at a number of other development projects across other sites where affordable homes are being built.
