The London Softwood Club (LSC) has elected Keith Ainslie, sales manager with James Jones & Sons Ltd, as president.

Mr Ainslie has been involved with the LSC for seven years and served two years as vice-president, before succeeding the late Steve Jones as president. Mr.Jones sadly died of cancer in January.

On taking up his appointment Mr Ainslie said: “I am delighted and honoured to be appointed as president of the London Softwood Club. I will work hard to maintain the Club’s successful record as an informative and friendly forum for the UK softwood trade and I look forward to the support and advice of my vice-president, Julie Shotton, and the management committee in doing this.”

The LSC has 82 members and provides networking opportunities for the softwood trade. Its monthly meetings are addressed by a wide range of UK and international expert speakers who talk on issues and market developments pertinent to the softwood trade.

On May 27 Mr Ainslie will be running the Edinburgh Marathon to raise funds for Cancer Research, in memory of Steve Jones. Donations in support can be made at www.justgiving.com/Keith-Ainslie.
