Scotts of Thrapston reports a 40% year-on-year jump in joinery enquiries and says it believes the industry is emerging from the worst of the downturn.

“A gradual recovery has been gathering momentum in the second quarter,” said chairman David Scott.

“The last two months in particualr have provided some comfort that customer confidence is returning. Enquiry numbers and order values have been on the rise across the business and June was very good.”

He thought the rise in enquiries for feature trusses for both new build and renovation work was particularly significant.
