Natural oak shakes from John Brash fulfilled a National Trust ‘green’ brief, with environmental sustainability a major requirement.
The shakes were used on the 160m2 double pitch roof of a new National Trust building at Prior Park Landscape Building in Bath.
The building frame was made from sustainable British timber and the external walls have been clad with larch.
The oak shakes were made from oak heartwood with the sapwood removed making them long-lasting and resistant to insect attack and decay.
