A sawmill operated by Doman Industries Ltd at Nanoose on southern Vancouver Island has temporarily shut with the loss of 61 jobs.
The Canadian company, now left with six of its nine mills operating, said the closure was due to the softwood lumber dispute with the US and low American lumber prices. It expects to announce further shutdowns.
