Night shift working at the James Jones & Sons’ JJI-joist factory in Forres has been reinstated.

Brian Robertson, general manager of James Jones’ timber systems division, said the move was a response to a steady improvement in UK construction market conditions and increases sales over the past few months.

“Whilst I am cautious about predicting an imminent end to the recession, we are currently in the enviable position of finding ourselves with a healthy order book,” he said.

Mr Robertson said restoring the shift would ensure sufficient stock levels to guarantee timely delivery to customers and distributors.

“The really good news is that we have been able to re-employ several of the workers we had to pay off when the recession first hit us.”
