Jewson broke the £1bn turnover barrier in September thanks to a purchase by Stockton-on-Tees building contractor Mandale Commercial.
A search of the records revealed it was a sale to Mandale at Jewson’s Norton branch that helped it reach the target.
Jewson sales and marketing director Tony Newman said: “We are delighted that the point at which we reach the £1bn turnover gets earlier each year.”
To celebrate, Jewson presented Peter Harriman of Mandale Commercial with a magnum of champagne, tickets to a Premier League match of his choice and a £250 credit note.
