Jeld-Wen’s new 35mm fire door is to be included in this year’s Construction Products Association (CPA) Construction Products Innovation & Achievement (CPIA) publication.

The FireGuard range has been designed to the same thickness as non-fire rated internal doors so to fit standard door frames, but with an additional 30-minute fire rating. Other fire doors require a 44mm frame.

It has been tested to BS 476-22 and is approved by the British Woodworking Federation’s Certifire scheme.

CPIA is the CPA’s annual guide showcasing innovative products and systems created by the construction products industry, with 24 products included.

“We chose FireGuard because it makes fire doors much more accessible to the market,” said CPA communications and external affairs director Simon Storer.

“The ultimate beneficiary will be the homeowner, who now has a much more affordable option to keep them and their family better protected against smoke and flame.”

Jeld-Wen technical director Ian Purkis added FireGuard had simplified “an expensive process” by removing the need to replace whole doorsets.
