Door distributor JB Kind Ltd has continued its acquisition of STP Group’s businesses by taking control of its flush door factory in Normanton, West Yorkshire.

The factory has the capacity to produce 6,000 doors a week, and JB Kind said the facility and its 18 staff would help reduce its dollar-based imports as financial markets remain volatile.

JB Kind has already announced the acquisition of STP Distribution, including its stock, warehouse and office facilities in Leeds and Bristol.

“Apart from the practical advantage that this venture offers JB Kind in terms of additional facilities, this acquisition means that we can now offer our customers the most comprehensive package of doors available in the UK, including the extensive and unrivalled range of Certifire approved fire doors,” said managing director Philip Smith.

“We are pleased that our financial planning over the last five years has really paid off and enabled us to secure the STP companies, even in the midst of a recession.”

STP’s administrators have said they are winding down the company’s manufacturing site at New Mills, with 92 staff made redundant.
