James Jones & Sons has announced plans to build a £20m sawmill at Lockerbie.
The news, released by James Jones yesterday, will see the establishment of “one of the most advanced sawmills operating in Europe” and create new and safeguard existing jobs.
Ground works have started and the construction programme will continue until autumn 2009, when production will start with a single shift capacity in excess of 140,000m³.
The facility willl add value through grading, planing and treatment of sawn timber.
