Fourteen staff from Thornbridge Sawmills’ operation in Grangemouth, Stirling and Aberdeen have signed up for the Institute of Wood Science (IWSc) Foundation Course.

IWSc director David Woodbridge presented a workshop on the course, outlining what it involves and demonstrating how it works.

He said the range of experience amongst those who registered was diverse – from established industry professionals through individual sector specialists to those completely new to the industry.

“There was general agreement that the course would benefit all participants regardless of their level of knowledge, helping build a common body of knowledge within the company regarding timber, sheet materials and joinery products whilst boosting individual confidence when dealing with customers”, he said.

The group is scheduled to do the Foundation Course Timber Studies Award examination in early spring with Thornbridge managing director Bruce Muirhead and three other company directors acting as course mentors.
