The Institute of Wood Science (IWSc) says last year was the best for wood science training in the UK and Ireland for more than a decade.

There were outstanding results for the Foundation Course and, in response to a noticeable increase in enrolments, the IWSc plans a substantial revision of its Certificate Course.

Since the launch of the Foundation Course in July 2001, there have been 245 students enrolled. The IWSc had particular success in attracting students from the Republic of Ireland and says the international relevance of its training role has been demonstrated.

This year’s IWSc convention will be held in Newcastle on October 13. For further information on the institute visit www.iwsc.org.uk.
