Delegates attending “2006 World of Wood” heard keynote sessions on the buoyant wood flooring market, China’s impact on trade, global transportation and logistics, plus tariff classification.

IWPA executive vice-president Brent McClendon said: “It was truly an open exchange among diverse market forces in the industry – softwood, hardwood, importers, distributors, overseas suppliers and those involved in logistics.”

Gary Schlossberg, Wells Fargo Bank vice-president and senior economist, described how US economic forecasts could impact the wood products industry, while president of Design Flooring Inc Wayne Cotton discussed trends in the wood flooring business.

The IWPA represents 221 companies and trade associations engaged in the import of hardwoods and softwoods into the US.
