Figures released by ACIMALL, the trade association that represents 185 of those Italian firms attending Ligna, claim that machinery, tools and accessory sales increased by 18% in 2006, with total production valued at €1.8bn and exports reaching €1.5bn.

As such, it has said that the Italian woodworking machinery sector is “going through a pretty positive period” and is close to breaking the record levels set in 2000.
