Two factories operated by French wood-based panel producer Isoroy SAS could be closed.

Isoroy’s parent company Sonae Indústria said Isoroy needed to adapt its production to meet weak market demand. Isoroy’s production includes chipboard, MDF, OSB and melamine faced/laminated panels from six plants.

“The recurrent overcapacity installed in the French market relative to the local demand is a well-known issue,” said Sonae.

“The current economic climate and the downturn in the construction and furniture industries have added to historical difficulties and resulted in the need for restructuring our operations in France.”

Sonae said it remained committed to the French market.
