Irish construction and supply companies, including Coillte Panel Products, met at the Irish Embassy in London last week to discuss opportunities to supply materials and services for 2012 Olympics developments.

The meeting was hosted by ambassador Bobby McDonagh and attended by Ireland’s deputy prime minister and minister for enterprise, trade and employment Mary Coughlan.

“A number of our companies are already leading suppliers into the Olympic Park development, and others are engaged in the tender process,” said Enterprise Ireland construction adviser John Hunt.

“The meeting at the embassy was a chance for companies to discuss the opportunities presented by the Olympics and, with Ms Coughlan, to see if we were doing enough to capitalise, how the government could help and if it could do more,” added Coillte Panel Products marketing and business development director Geoff Rhodes.

The meeting also saw Coillte Panel Products and Titan Wood sign an agreement to develop a modified MDF panel using wood acetylation technology
