Building inspectors from Homebond, a service provided by Ireland’s National House Building Guarantee Company Ltd, have been on a forestry fact-finding mission.
Almost 70% of all new builds in Ireland this year will be registered with and inspected by Homebond which is a key link in maintaining quality in the Irish construction industry.
The Forest Industry Information Day event was hosted by Coillte, the Irish Forestry Board, and its biggest sawmill customer, Murray Timber Products Ltd.
The group visited a reforestation site, an active harvesting site and a mature spruce plantation ready for clearfell before going to Murray Timber Products’ recently upgraded sawmill which processes 200,000m3 of roundwood a year.
