Finnforest and Wolseley Centers are introducing more efficiency into their partnership with the introduction of a new invoicing system.

The Wolseley-led initiative links its Builder Center and Timber Center stores with Finnforest via XML (extensible markup language) allowing business documents to be transferred directly between their trading systems. Finnforest is Wolseley’s first supplier to go onto XML.

The system replaces an electronic data invoice system (EDI) and is designed to reduce the margin of error and achieve cost savings on administration. The next step will be to introduce XML ordering which will reduce the time taken to place orders.

Rob Tyler, Builder Center’s heavyside timber business manager, said: ‘Timber is obviously a significant product sector for Builder Center and we are constantly searching for new ways of improving our performance and service.’

Wolseley said its timber volumes were ‘growing very quickly’ with Finnforest being one of its key timber suppliers.
