Pallet and packing case manufacturer Invicta (Borough Green Sawmills) Ltd is expecting to double production after moving sites in Kent and investing in new technology.

Invicta moved to Gillingham in early April, leaving Borough Green where it had started in 1910. The old site’s restrictive and uneven layout was a major reason for moving. Now Invicta has a large area surrounding its Gillingham factory, enabling a wide range of sawn timber and finished product to be held, giving customers a faster service.

A £100,000 new Punto pallet machine gives Invicta four production lines, which are now on double shift. Output will increase from last year’s 540,000 pallets to a projected 1.08 million in the first year. Two new saws have been installed to make up for the lack of a sawmill on site. Space exists for a fifth production line.
