The latest Swedish National Forest Inventory shows that annual growth in the country’s forest is 120 million m³.
The inventory, showing statistics for 2003-2007, says timber stock outside nature reserves and national parks is 3.25 billion m³.
Average annual growth for the whole of Sweden was 4.9 forest cubic metres (stock wood above the stump) per hectare, with southern Sweden having the strongest growth rate of 7.5.
Felling in the whole of Sweden for 2006/07 was 78.5 million forest cubic metres – the second highest figure since 1997/98. The highest regional rate – 30 million m³ – was in southern Sweden.
