International Timber has reported a surge in demand for solid wood flooring, with sales doubling year on year.

The Manchester-based company said consumers were trading up from laminates to solid wood flooring.

Commercial director Tony Miles said: “Customer demand for rustic oak flooring has grown very consistently and strongly this year and we have had to work very smartly with our supply chain and group stock management to ensure that supply can keep up with this demand.”

International Timber launched the Floor-IT range of solid oak flooring earlier this year to allow the trade to tap into what it sees as “huge sales potential” in wooden flooring.
