A mix-up by Interbuild organiser EMAP has resulted in a vastly inflated figure being published for the number of timber exhibitors attending this year’s event.
EMAP initially told TTJ that about 40 timber companies had booked stands for the October 18-21 event at Birmingham NEC. But it has now confirmed that it sent out a list from a previous year and the correct number was actually about eight.
Of these companies, only two, American Softwoods and Ante-Holz, are sawn/engineered wood suppliers, while four others are flooring suppliers and two, AM Profiles and Marvin Architectural, are window manufacturers. The organiser said there may be other flooring/roofing companies attending.
The Timber Zone will not feature this year, while the number of halls for the exhibition is reducing from three to two. Total exhibitor bookings are running a third behind last year, when 680 stands featured at the exhibition.
