The Tewkesbury branch of Travis Perkins has said that it is hoping to reopen sometime this week, after heavy flooding caused severe damage to the site.

The branch has undertaken a large-scale clean-up operation to reclaim the site, which was 3ft under water in some places, with much of the external stock sent to landfill, racks disinfected and up to a third of the shop lost to the floodwater.

Sean Watson, branch manager, said that the site was hoping to have the racks refilled in the next few days and be open soon after.

Other Travis Perkins branches were also hit by the floods, with the Gloucester site temporarily shutting due to power and water problems, while Joseph Griggs & Co Ltd, also in Gloucester, was only briefly affected despite being situated next to a canal.
