Making his final speech as chairman to the association’s annual dinner in Bristol, Mr Williams said the TTF had made significant strides “in positioning the industry at the forefront of government policy and driving home the timber message”.

Over the past three years the TTF had focused on delivering real value to its members. As a result, membership was increasing, and this year both the TTF and BCWTTA were undertaking a membership drive.

“The successes of the past few years have been enormous,” said Mr Williams,”and it’s our duty to continue to ensure our industry is vigorously and successfully promoted in the future.

“It’s vital that we continue to bring as many people with us in support of our trade body, not only in taking the industry to the next level, but ensuring we all prosper together, as the work done by The Federation to date is building towards our future prosperity and success.”

Mr Williams will be succeeded as chairman by Ian Attwood of International Plywood.

TTF president Neil Donaldson reiterated the call he made at the North East Timber Trade Association dinner in January, for the industry to work together and support the TTF’s initiatives.
