The Western Australia timber industry says an environmental group is “fabricating” stories in an attempt to prevent logging in the south-west of the state.
The Forest Industries Federation claims the Western Australia Forest Alliance has circulated photos which suggest government staff have been acting outside regulations and potentially spreading dieback in the area of Palmer One Block, which is being logged to supply local sawmills.
The environmental group says the photos are designed to show breaches of regulations but are not related to a campaign to prevent logging of the block.
